This caravan park is located at Carlo Point, on the Great Sandy Straits. It is about 3km from Rainbow Beach in Queensland.

We initially booked for 4 nights. We were given a powered grass site at the edge of the caravan park, close to the Carlo Point boat ramp.

We enjoyed our initial 4 night stay so much we requested an extension for another 3 nights. We could not stay on our initial site for the extra nights, so we moved to another grass site at the north eastern end of the park.

The park provides cabins, conventional concrete slab caravan sites, powered grass sites and unpowered grass sites. The cabins and concrete slab sites have a conventional grid layout. We preferred the grass sites as they were spacious, provided both sun and shade; and they are closer to the surrounding parkland and the Great Sandy Straits.

This is an excellent caravan park. One of the best we have visited.

The sunsets across the Great Sand Straits are magnificent. Watching the sunset beside a camp fire with the company of camping neighbours was a special experience and convinced us that buying our caravan had been a very good decision.

The park site map can be obtained here: Park Map

Site E2 - powered grass

Our initial camp site is labelled E2 in the park map. That site can be seen in the photos below:

Site C2 - powered grass

For our last 3 nights we moved to site C2. This site had more tree cover than E2. E2 had thicker grass cover, whereas C2 had thin grass and sand. This is just a sun / shade / grass / sand trade-off.
C2 is served by a very new facilities block that provides spacious full ensuite shower / toilet / vanity unit cubicles. These new facilities are excellent.

Site C2 can be seen in the image below:

Rainbow Beach Surf Lifesaving Club

We had lunch at the Rainbow Beach SLSC on two occasions. They serve food and drinks at fair prices in modern facilities that have fantastic views over Rainbow Beach and Double Island Point,
