The Park Map can be found here: Park Map. We were initially free camping directly north of site 16. We later moved our caravan up the slope to site 16 when we decided to stay a few more days. (We did not have solar panels in the van at that time)
We were invited to a "Lunch with Old Friends" at a restaurant in Cooroy. Because this was a long way from home, we decided to take the caravan to a nearby location to make a long weekend outing.
We chose Imbil as we have fond memories of travelling there on the "Mary Valley Rattler"; and old steam train that ran from Gympie to Imbil before the track was washed away in a major flood event.
Imbil is a very pretty small town situated between Cooroy and Lake Borumba in the Imbil State Forest.
The caravan park provide powered grass sites and free camping. The powered sites are set back from the creek on a rise. They have good views and catch the breeze. The free camping (unpowered) areas are closer to the creek. Many are perched on an embankment that overlooks the creek.
This is a very pleasant caravan park. However in late October it offers something very special! Many of the trees in the park (and throughout Imbil) are Jacarandas. In late October they are in full bloom. The site was astounding,.... amazing.....
After a few days we had some heavy rain. This was on a Sunday when many campers were leaving to go home. The grass became muddy due to the vehicles moving over very wet ground. However the Jacarandas came to the rescue. They were constantly raining purple flowers and soon after the vehicles had departed, the ground was once again covered in a carpet of purple.
The amenities are well maintained.
We really enjoyed our stay and will visit again; in October.
